So yeap, this Christmas post, I’ll try to compile series of Christmas viral made by agencies all around the world. Since last year, it seems like there’s and unwritten agreement of making cool Christmas viral. We were also planning to make one for ourself, but unfortunately, we’ve been really busy at this end of year. We promised to make one next year. So, here are the list:

Some of you might have previous version of image above showing how people evolve. For me; image above will tickled me in a way that we actually going back to nomad because technology enable us to do so.

The difference between ancient and ‘neo’ nomad maybe only its tools and ‘know-how’. On ancient nomad, people will and always gather in groups, have their own sign/language, their own symbol, create their own currency (on bartering things) and their own unique habit (culture). All tools that used as means for their activities are simple, practical, and specific. Even, in some literature fashion also indicate their identity as a member of specific ‘ancient nomad’ groups (-although I’m still curious on how we can know how a pre-historic people dress-up-). Ancient-nomad will move places because many reasons included in this 2 groups; resource to support their groups and/or security.

‘Neo-Nomad’; will have all the social values had in ancient-nomad. Especially in Indonesia; I think Indonesian will be very easy to complete this sentence ‘let’s gather for ….”. We have community for almost every car type(even if it not a rare car), specific product from a brand - from id-mac, id-apple, ipod touch community, iphone, etc- , and specific sub-(sub-sub-…)group.

Thanks to technology, physical appearance will not be a mandatory; because we can have a ‘gathering’ in mailing lists, chat rooms, multiparties calling, and group SMS. Every participant can/want/need to be involved in decision making process; although most of the them never meet each other in person.

Demands (or dreams) to get more than what we have will always be there; either we need it or we want it. Started with a device that can only receive limited characters and a device that can exchange single duplex voice; now a device can do all things; text, voice, internet, music, photo, and ‘carry-able’.

Why we need it to be a ‘carry-able’ device? One of the reason is because we really want to take control on what we have, including our social networks / groups / community.

Technology shifted us to a ‘neo-nomad’ creatures.

1 million question: are we ready for this?

We are publishing this story not because Kina Grannis has a wonderful voice. Or because she is good composer. Not even because she is beautiful and sexy and has a choir to match. Heck, we are not even doing it because of the song she has dedicated to Digg users, which is actually areally good one. We are publishing this story because a) we love her attitude, b) we want her to win the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl contest, c) her smile is an early Xmas present to all of us, dorks of the Intarwebs and d) all of the above. I just watch this movie today. It was a great movie, great act, good to see something you’ve never seen before (i’ve been to nyc but seeing the city fallin apart? see the movie poster of Superman and Batman become one movie?) and it was unpredicted. Well, I don’t wanna end up tell the story, in case many of you haven’t watch the movie… you better be fast, it’s better to watch it in the movie theatre… with all the sound effects.

But, the songs from Bob Marley still running in my head… it was a good ‘hook’ repeated several times in the movie.

In that movie, Dr. Neville (Will Smith) mentioned regarding Bob Marley’s quotes saying something like “Music can bring peace to many races” and now we can see many bands having multi races in a band (last one that i saw, was Mika live performance in Hongkong and his bassist is Korean)

We can see many people from all over the world gather around during Glastonbury (UK), Big Day Out (Australia) and many other music festivals to celebrate music in togetherness.

In Indonesia, I even can say “Creative Technology has brought peace in Indonesian youngster”

Yup, all the gadgets, the gaming consoles and the social networking sites has made Indonesian youngster busy until they don’t have time to fight anymore. According to my friend, Yongky from Nielsen on the last Indonesian Marketing Forum 07, the only crime that showing decrease in numbers is student fights. All other crime has increased in Indonesia, but student fights reduced.

When I was a teenager, most of newspaper and magazine always covered the student fights. Maybe because there’s nothing really interesting for young students to do those days… skipping schools and go to the malls? I did ;-p

We are entering the 2008 very soon. Remember that, in what we do, we could do many good things to impact others. I remember the ads done by OctoComm for Gudang Garam during the National Education Day… hopefully we can (continue) do many of positive impact in 2008

I just read an article from the latest Forbes Asia during my flight to Surabaya this noon. Actually Om William Soeryadjaya is one of my idol. And that article makes me took some time to think. God always besides every right people. God bless Om William so damn great. Let’s take your time to think about it! Merry Christmas!
