Beautiful Political
First off, I’m not taking sides or anything, cause I kinda hate the subject, but I really dig this Political campaign of Obama. It’s beautifully done. I like the poster done by Obey. Man, Obey did your poster what more could you ask.
Better yet, will.i.am sung your song.
And it stuck in my head “Yes We Can.” that’s a really powerful line man “Yes We Can.”
When Music Creates Buzz
Today I went to dinner with some friends after having a late lunch meeting (yes it’s Sunday and should be sabbath). One of my friend which is a very talented fashion editor at Bazaar and also a regular reader of this blog asked, why this blog has gone silence this past two weeks. Well if you’re having the same thought, the reason is we’re dead busy, classique answer. Yup, dead busy but for me personally it’s exciting. Ok, so here goes my first post in 2008.
One of our neighbor country has done a very effective TVC for one of its destination city, well at least I and some people on the net are captured. I’m quite sure that this campaign will be buzzed around in the upcoming month. It’s Korea for Hi Seoul TVC. I first saw this campaign earlier this month on MTV, but I think this is a campaign for 2007.
The commercial is so MTV style, and I guess they really wanted to target this MTV generation. There are two smart elements that makes this ad grabs my attention. First off is the intro, where a dog asked to a really boring girl whether she recently saw a talking dog, and the girl was so damn bored that she just point out a direction to her left with her blank eyes stare with no excitement nor surprised that she just met one. Then come the second part which pretty much standard beauty shot of night life in the city. It’s not the visual that captured my attention and I’m not saying that the visual is bad at all, but what makes this ad get buzzed is the soundtrack. The music is very catchy chillin’ up tempo beat, simple lyric and very easy to remember. So the next action for me was open up my laptop went to Google and start throwing keywords into the magic box.
And here comes the buzz. This quest started to become exciting when I found out that there are many people are also looking for this, asked this in Yahoo!Answers and blog this and you can’t find the good quality video of this ad anywhere on the net (at least until yesterday I couldn’t find one), but instead you’ll find this video getting taped by a cellphone stratight form the TV and someone has put this up in Youtube.

This year, the industry floundered with guerrilla ads and social networking; 2008 should reemphasize digital media and a return to sales basics. or our round-up of the year in advertising and branding, we asked creative directors from agencies in four locations around the world to nominate work that made an impact in their regions in 2007. Our panel featured Johnny Vulkan, co-founder of and partner at the New York City-based agency, Anomaly; Simon Waterfall, current president of British advertising and design organization, D&AD, and co-founder of London-based digital agency Poke; Jonathan Kneebone, co-founder of Sydney-based creative collective, the Glue Society. Over in the multinational agency corner was Sheungyan Lo, executive creative director, northeast Asia, for JWT (WPP), based in Shanghai. Please read more.
Human Beatbox
I spent my weekend night surfing the world largest online video portal, Youtube, which I’ve never done before. Since now I got a broadband net access right from my bed, and apparently by using Google Reader makes you have no where else to go, so I kinda look for new activity. At first I was confused of what should I do in Youtube, so I just went to video page and sort it out to view the most viewed video of all time. There are five pages, and most of them are music video clips, so I did some analogue filtering by viewing only the video that is not music video clips, and man they were awesome, entertaining and inspiring. Yan has posted about evolution of dance while back then, and during my surf I found that human beat boxing very interesting. This might has been there for quite sometimes, but anyway I found this interesting and I’d like to share.
From all the human beat box I could find in Youtube, this was the most entertaining and I think the most success (21 million plus viewers), and Windows Vista used it for their online campaign, even though (in my personal opinion) it didn’t quite hit the spot, but well it might be because I didn’t understand the language and the trend.
If you enjoy the show, here are some more of this human beat boxing that I found interesting:
- Beatboxing flute inspector gadget remix
- Beatboxing flute super mario brothers theme
- Amazing human beatbox
I’m just wondering, what if someday all this original Youtube talents could perform a special show altogether in onestage, I think it would be outrageous.
Enjoy the show, I’m off to Jiffest… Thanks Fel for the ticket! :D
P.S. The FWA People Choice Award is on, be sure to cast your vote. I wonder who’s gonna win this year?
Burger Queen
