I don’t know about you, but I’ve always excited about Pixar’s movies. Last weekend, Dewi lent me her Pixar’s Shorts DVD and it’s great to watched their history back then, when they use this huge machine called computer, and back then the speed of their station is barely matched the speed of smart phone available today. Not to mention, they only had 3 stations, so everybody have to work in shifts to share the machines. Well, they’ve done their homeworks, so if they become something like today, it’s all because of the hard work.
Speaking of Pixar, they just created a viral website for their upcoming movie Wall-E. I think it’s gonna be about robots. And they even have an online store.
Very nice piece done for wireless communication company Fido.
Dexia EnLEDed Tower
I was doing my new morning routine, which is reading loads of stuff from Google Reader, and found a nice picture form one of the feed then decided to follow the link. It’s about the Dexia Tower. It’s 38 story high and wrapped with 150,000 LEDs, what even more interesting is that thing is interactive. Full story can be read here.
And this one is another interesting piece referred by the Juicer.
P.S.
“I’m sick of following my dreams, man. I’m just going to ask where they’re going, and hook up with them later.” -Mitch Hedberg
That is a funny quote I found this morning, and I think it’s true, you gotta know where your dreams are going to be able to hook up with them.
Social Gaming
Indra has shared a very interesting stuff today, and this kinda make my day. Thanks Ndra, so to get everyone excited I think I’m gonna share it in this blog too.
As the internet trend is going social, so does the gaming world. So this thing goes by the name of “Little Big Planet”, developed by Media Molecule and will be available for PS3 on first quarter of 2008. Well, I’m not the big fan of game, but this piece really captured my attention. I really like the concept of this game. In the video demo, you can play up to 4 players, and the way each player interact to other player and the environment is superb. While you’re playing your mission, you could modify your friend’s character by sticking flowers or sticker to it’s body and you can paint the environment with the provided presets. More that that, you can tap on your friend’s back to chill ‘em and loads more move that makes this game different form any other adventure game.
Apart form playing, you can also be an author to the game by creating your own world. Here comes the interesting part, after you create your own world, you can upload it to the net, so other people form any part of the world could download your map and play it, even more interesting, the map can be rated and then ranked base on the rating.
I think this will be a new medium, since you can upload your own pictures to the game an use it to the environment. I think soon will come the Coca Cola stage or any other brand. Damn smart!
And about the graphic, it’s very well executed. The character design, the environment and the depth of field camera, it’s all very natural.
So, here’s the clip
And here’s another one, also if you’re the HD freak you can get it here.
Social Networking Day on Friday?
Finally I have time to read my digital business week latest edition. I found an interesting article of what happened at one company in California. They aren’t just fooling around with facebook. They launched Facebook Fridays where all the staff (total 900 with average age 41) to spend an hour on Friday to updating their profile, collaborating with colleagues and clients and even recruiting for their company.
The company also setting up an employees-only group on facebook as a kind of alternative corporate intranet. New staff simply browse around facebook to get familiar with who’s and who in the company.
This closed group will be used for exchange docs, update corporate information, and share internal marketing videos.
Who said facebook only for playing around? ;-p
Even if you are a very busy person, 1 hour a week will do to maintain your facebook…
