Eternal Heritage (part 2)

Categories : Creative Business

Still on Eternal Heritage… in some of seminars that I gave, many times people talking about the big expenses that I need to do I Like Monday. I admitted, I have the luxury on creating the first weekly music event in Indonesia without any sponsors because of Hard Rock Cafe have a commitment and budget to support music industry although haven’t have any guaranteed of profit in the future. I managed to get approval from all my bosses.

But, I also have an example of an innovative event without spending any money.

It happened when I run MTV trax Magazine, we need to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary but have no budget and the cash flow still very bad.

So how to make a creative event that provocative like MTV did in America or in the UK?

“But they have a huge budget compare to us… and we don’t have a single budget” said my team during our meeting. The answer is to creating event that so good and easily can attract sponsors.

Creating an event to travel to somewhere that people didn’t know where they going? Yes, Why not.

Live Perfomance on the Plane? Yes, why not.

Please welcome… MTV trax Destination Nowhere..!!

We hook up travel agent and airlines to support us. We sell limited space for the readers with some margins to cover the ground expenses for artist and press that we invite.

Cokelat perform on the plane… We all travel without knowing where we going… it was fun.. more fun than when you already know where to go…

We don’t even think of MURI (Indonesian Museum of Record), but as soon as we are covered on Kompas first page, then we finally awarded MURI.

This innovation has inspired many others.. like fashion show on the plane, children coloring on the plane, seminar on the plane, new year’s eve dj on the plane and so on..

I believe many people have creative ideas but haven’t pushed their ideas until it become reality. Start with a small ones.. then you’ll get your confidence ;-p

Eternal Heritage

Categories : Creative Business

“Sekali ku hidup, sekali ku mati. Aku dibesarkan di Bumi Pertiwi. Akan kutinggalkan warisan abadi. Semasa hidupku sebelum aku mati”

That quotes from Gesang, the composer of our legendary song - Bengawan Solo - really inspired me to keep on creating ’signature’ event that can become eternal heritage.

I Like Monday. Who dares to do event on Monday night? People don’t like Monday. Bob Geldof even create the legendary song - I Don’t Like Monday. Although there were so many difficulties, we should be persistent on our innovation especially if we already calculated the risk and the gain.

Monday is the slowest day of the week. It’s easier to double the sales on Monday rather than double the sales on Friday and Saturday. Artist those days never perform on Monday, so I can get special rate. As well as additional sound system, rather than the equipment stays in the warehouse :-p

So innovation still need calculation…

Now it’s already more than decade, I Like Monday program become eternal heritage for Hard Rock Cafe and soon maybe will rock Hard Rock Cafe New York.. cross my fingers.

So start ‘dreaming’ something that could become eternal heritage.. I bet you could… Especially we are in the passionate family who loves knowledge and innovation in order to get our achievements… Passion!

Trans TV Headline Kompas

As we can see Trans TV headline on Kompas, the biggest newspaper in Indonesia because they got the Indonesian Museum of Record (MURI) for the biggest recruitment ever for private companies.

It’s not only because they’re gettin’ MURI. I like it because it is relevance with their brand and product, new tv can attract so much candidates. Good companies attract huge numbers of candidates, right?

Who said that MURI only goes to marketers? HR can.. Design can.. all other business can… It depends to your passion to push your creative ideas become reality… ;-p
